jim,

Good point about E*trade trying "to give too much". Especially about the "alerts" and other unnecessary factors that serve to bog down their system. Better to do a few things right than to do many wrong.

And yes, E*trade, as you say, "is good". One of the best, if not THE best in the industry. That's why I remain a customer. But that's no excuse for mismanagement and customer neglect.

BTW, I think it was a big mistake for them to have gone to their new web site. It's full gargage that does nothing to enhance the needs of investors and traders. I wish we had the old site back. A web site that's lean, mean, slick, fast, functional and to-the-point is what we need. Not one with a bunch of frills and bells-and-whistles that serve no purpose other than to "look good" to inexperienced Internet users.

IMO, anything on their web site that does not add to making quick, efficient trading and investment decisions and orders is a drag on the system and on my time. I can think of lots of things they could delete that would make their operation much more efficient and functional. In short, their web site is way too difficult to navigate, and is poorly designed...for ONE thing. Of course, there are other blunders the company has made that are of more importance. I understand the SEC is looking into those now.

EGRP was rated a "BUY" in BARRONS this weekend, noting long tern benefits and will be sector leader.

jdb,
I have been an activist in my writings to E*Trade to tell them to limit the information on their site. They always respond that they are the cutting edge service and they need to expand to keep ahead of the competition. They need to upgrade their EMC storage capacity. The theme in internet portals is to try and keep the customer on your site. Look at AOL, they try to provide everything you need without actually going to the net. A link to Yahoo from E*T could provide financial info but then E*T customers would be bombarded with ad's from Datek and Ameritrade. As a customer I am annoyed when I get the same quality service that my old broker provided but as an investor in EGRP I can follow the logic of being the eventual winner in the online broker war.
