Let me mention is passing another rape-associated phenomenon-- those cases in which women have had the wit to survive their ordeal, and even lay a trap for their tormentor, by proposing a return visit, by which time they have had the opportunity to alert the police.

Clearly the thought-world that rapist is in involves the delusion that his victim has enjoyed this sexual occasion as much as he has, and wishes to repeat it this time voluntarily.

It isn't common, but it does provide an insight into the minds of a certain number of rapists.

I remember a case not long ago in which a woman living in an almost empty building was raped by the super. She realized that, because she knew who he was, her life was in danger. After the rape, she saw him go toward the kitchen, and realized he was looking for a knife. Quickly, she asked him if he had a girlfriend, and whether he wanted to be her boyfriend. He hesitated, but said yes. She said she would make a nice meal for them now-- he should go out and pick up some groceries.

As soon as he left, she called the police.
