Searle, No offense, (I appreciate your posts), but take a look at what H.S.Dent (there is a thread on his stuff somewhere on SI) has to say about the relationship between the spending habits of the BabyBoom Generation (Peak at age 47 falls for the greater number of them at @2012)and the stock market. If this major downturn in the engine of the U.S. economy occurs at around the same time as a half dozen to a dozen other negative factors about which the politicians here are doing nothing, there is no way we are going to avoid anything but a major loss of power. And I don't see anyone coming to our rescue. And that is in the forseeable future.
