victor... do you have any thoughts on how this event may effect the stock tomorrow? If Rosen can come with some good news and or honest direct success oriented forward-looking comments, it may not be quite as bad as it could be. I especially liked Rosen's seeming honesty and Kumar's remark. Does an event of this type generate further analyst up/downgrades in your opinion? El

victor,

>>Since Rosen wants to bring in a new era, would he really fail to mention poorer results than the 15 cents at this time: would he really explain the resignations the way he did, and then allow COMPAQ to deliver another body blow on Tuesday? His own credibility would not last long if he did.

I will bet the .15 is conservative and actual numbers will turn out slightly higher. For the most part, the stock's price already reflects anticipated earnings, so I would not see much movement, one way or the other, from whatever is reported on Wed.

On the other hand......Rosen's reputation and credibility and the Board's quick action sends a powerful signal to Wall Street. There will likely be a positive spurt, but there will also be a wait and see attitude to get a better feel as to EP's replacement. The saving grace through it all will be, again, Rosen's positive handling of the PR through all fronts, from clearly and decisively reiterating the Company's focus to admitting that profound problems exist within the Company to regaining everyone's confidence that HE WILL get them fixed. THERE IS a new sheriff in town!!
