To remove the logical construction from the subject matter, it is not plausible to contend that all breads consist of flour, water, yeast, and sugar, in varying proportions. Some contain other ingredients; others may lack one or more of those ingredients. To make the blanket statement encourages others to look for exceptions to wave around; a pleasant enough task if discussing bread, less than edifying for the other stuff.

I think I understand the "Let's not talk about it" position. Sometimes things are so awful they really are too upsetting to contemplate. I read a story in our paper about a young teenage runaway beaten and tortured and killed by a group of kids. Now this upset me more than I can say. I don't know what I gained by reading about it. It made me so sad I really cannot articulate it. I think that is what he means. But maybe not- I am just guessing and empathizing.
