I've always been a little astounded when the leaders go on about the "cowardice" of terrorist attacks. Bombing a country with no air force is perhaps heroic?

It all sucks, but I don't think one way sucks and worse (any harder?) then the other way.

I would not regret killing an enemy in war. Much. But I have been coarsened by combat. It's not quite the same, I know.

I know the sickening feeling of watching a client being shackled and led off to a long prison sentence after a trial. And I know how it feels to become inured to that. It's called professionalism. After a few times, you can get used to almost anything.

I saw a thing on educable about the history of warfare. They talked about Greek phalanx battles as being the antecedent of how Westerners deal with armed conflict. I believe it. Those mothers fought ugly.
