Doesn't ATHM have what AOL wants

cable access-yes
But ATHM does not see the future as just an ISP with a faster pipe, but as a content provider, infomediary and provider of all kinds of broadband services.

So do we see any deals in the future?

ATHM has had talks with AOL several different times. They always broke down because AOL felt that they were all of the above only in need of a faster pipe. In other words, we don't need your content, we just want the access to the broadband pipes. But remember, that the real money to be made is not in subscriptions, but in targeted marketing, e-commerce and the numbers of eyeballs. The fact that AOL has brought in the feds and AT&T owning a large part of ATHM....it may be impossible for them ever to come to terms that are acceptable to both parties.
Smaller firms seem to be looking at AOL as the new MSFT and are more than a little wary of doing any partnership deals with them. Hey, AOL managed to out-Microsoft Microsoft on that deal with we'll use your browser if you give us access to the first screen on the Windows desktop! That was the biggest miscalculation since IBM decided that the software wasn't as important as the hardware for the PC and gave the industry to Mr.Gates. Timed with MSFT being tied up in DC for a few years in anti-trust because of their own arrogance. (You notice that the engineers at INTC did not make the same mistake- They did the practical thing and settled. They're engineers, just want to make sure it works.)
