More excerpts from Bloomberg on 5fer firing:

In recent years, though, its lead in the PC business has been challenged. Compaq's unit shipments rose 17 percent last year and its market share rose to 14.8 percent, according to International Data Corp. Dell, though, shipped 63 percent more machines than a year earlier, and its third place market share surged to 8.5 percent.

Dell is winning more of the lucrative corporate accounts. In the first quarter, Compaq's share of corporate accounts fell to 21.5 percent as Dell's rose 30.9 percent, according to ZD Market Intelligence. IBM and H-P also posted gains.

The real reason CPQ is in such trouble seems to be.....??? Dell???
Duh! Aloha
