The genius of Metacrawler is the technology that sums the knowledge of all the search engines, so if its out there then Metacrawler will find it.

It will find it as long as the aggregators (the real search sites) let them use their content. For now, it is in the interest of the search sites to share their content, but it's a risk.

I'm impressed, however, with what GNET seems to have done with the technology. Metacrawler used to be dreadfully slow. It's become much faster.

I'll admit, though, that I still use it as my secondary site. I rarely go to it first unless I'm doing just a simple search. AltaVista remains my primary choice because I find it so easy there to customize the search to find just what I want. I like to be able to enter something like '+"little blue" +Mars +(men OR women)' and then go from there. Like most other search engines, Metacrawler wants simpler queries in its default form.

Go2net ad campaign is certainly memorable!
go2net.com

I'm still chuckling about the Holyfield shorts ad, now this.
There's definitely a lot of recall factor here
