For the books I've priced recently, both Amazon and Borders wanted list price +/-. I've found them cheaper locally.

My most recent example is the book "Panic! : Unix System Crash Dump Analysis" which I bought new here in Austin, Texas for just under $45. Both Borders and Amazon want $59.

I suppose there's more competition on best sellers, but those you can often get heavily discounted at Walmart or even Best Buy.

JMHO.
