Three times 333 Mhz is 1Ghz. Say Jim doesn't the the K7 run the
L2 cache at Clock/3?

Jim - MOT 333MHz Cu SRAM; <Maybe this will help the K7>

I gather that you are taking the MOT 333MHz SRAM announcement as a positive for AMD, as it demonstrates to some degree that MOT is shipping product on their Cu interconnect technology.

To answer your question directly: Certainly doesn't hurt.

Actually, I've been doing a little homework, and my new prediction is that F30 has a fair shot at acceptable (not great, not bad) yields with shipments trickling out sometime Q1 '00 on a fairly low but increasing volume. This is my extreme WAG based on snippets and rumors with plenty of margin for error in either direction. Fair enough?

Jim - More 333MHz SRAM vs. K7

Another possible reason you like this announcement, perhaps more relevant than my earlier reason? From JC's page:

chiptech.com

99/04/18, 12:57pm - Ooh! Many thanks to Bud Grise for letting me know of this press release. I don't remember if I've seen it or put it up before, but according to it, Motorola has "greater than 333MHz" SRAM out in general availability. This leads to the possibility that we might see our friend, the K7, out with a 1/2x MHz L2 multiplier. As you should recall, the K7 was originally conceived to have 1/3x MHz L2, mostly due to the uncertainty of SRAM availability in 1999. With faster SRAMs becoming more available in recent times, there has been some speculation that there may be different "versions" of the K7 with different L2 clock rates at the same CPU clock rate (and, well, lower prices for the lower MHz L2 versions of the processor). But, anyway, the nitty-gritty here is that Motorola's new 333MHz+ SRAM makes 1/2x MHz L2 in the K7 quite a bit more likely.

More suspense and intrigue surrounding the K7. I can hardly stand it. (Yawn).

I do not know how real or large this market may be; but, the following would appear to be a possibly profitable product:
