Great XNET NEWS! Sina.com to go public; Good news for XNET since it could be the first mainland China ISP/Portal to be listed on NASDAQ ahead of SINA (provided things move ahead at a good pace with the SEC 10 & NASDAQ application); I can guarantee that if SINA goes public with the big players as stated in the PR, you won't be able to get it for less than $18/share, more likely will trade in the $40-80 range on the first day of the IPO. Our shares of XNET at $4 are suddenly looking like "quite a bargain" ------------------------- Article ------------------------- Wednesday, April 14, 1999 04:00 AM BEIJING, April 14 (Reuters) - Internet firm Sina.com said on Wednesday it is planning a U.S. stock offering as early as the third quarter of this year, giving the international firm pole position among Chinese-language Internet companies. "An initial public offering is a certainty for us," company president Wang Zhidong told Reuters at the company's Beijing office. It also has offices in Taiwan and Sunnyvale, California. Wang said the first choice would be to list on New York's NASDAQ (Amex:QQQ) and that the company had already been approached for underwriting by a pack of Wall Street heavyweights, including Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley. "We've had many, many offers," Wang said. "But after talking it over with the management, we decided now wasn't the best time." The company, which runs popular Chinese language "portal" websites, would need a few months to let $25 million in fresh venture capital investments sink in before pumping the markets for more cash, Wang said. Portals are web pages which act as gateways to the information superhighway, providing services such as search engines, "chat rooms," e-mail and e-commerce. The opportunity for a listing would ripen as early as the third quarter of this year and no later than the first half of next year, Wang said. He declined to say how many shares would be floated or at what price. 1999, Reuters" Frank Disclosure; long XNET
