LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 1999--Ampex Data Systems Corporation, a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Ampex Corporation (Amex:AXC), is demonstrating its entire line of DST digital cartridges,
drives and automated cartridge libraries at NAB '99.

The champion of digital storage technologies for broadcast and film, Ampex is highlighting its video server
archive solutions with Hewlett-Packard, Tektronix and ASC at the industry's premier technology event.
Additionally, Ampex is demonstrating the newest addition to its DST family, the DST 712 Library
Extension, which offers users unlimited storage capacities. Visit Ampex Data Systems at NAB in the Las
Vegas Convention Center, booth no. L10634.

Ampex products are also on display at partner booths throughout the show. Stop by Hewlett-Packard
(L12819), Leitch Technology Corporation with ASC (L22257), and Tektronix (L22914) to see how Ampex
DST products work with the industry's leading video servers to archive and retrieve massive video and
images. Ampex's software partners will also display Ampex DST systems. These include Discreet Logic
(S4009), Drake Automation (L18118), and Snell & Wilcox (L23745).

The Tektronix Profile(R) and Hewlett-Packard Media-Stream(TM) servers are featured in Ampex's booth
with DST video server archives. Ampex and Hewlett-Packard recently teamed up to provide a
high-performance video server archive. Ampex and Tektronix offer a combined solution to fill the need for
high-end, massive and reliable digital archives that can integrate into a network-attached storage
architecture. Both of these server archive solutions are employed in broadcast facilities for complete
digital station automation.

Used in numerous government applications from NASA to the Federal Aviation Administration, Ampex's
products meet the demand for high security and reliability in the archival of mission-critical video and data
files. Ampex is showcasing products ideal for government applications, including the ASC video file server
with the DST 712.

Featuring a live product display of the scalable DST 712 library with new library extension, Ampex will
demonstrate its unlimited storage technology. The display, made of plexi-glass shows visitors how the
advanced robotic transfer rail operates to quickly pull a selected cartridge from its slot, slide it into the
transfer rail and whisk it to the drive for play. Any Ampex DST 712 system can now benefit from unlimited
storage potential. Ampex's entire line of DST technologies are also on display, including the 312 drive,
412, 712 and 812 automated cartridge libraries, and tape cartridges.

"NAB is the ideal opportunity for us to show our target market the newest technologies changing the face
of storage. The new DST library extension is the most economical and practical growth path for digital
storage, allowing customers to expand storage capabilities as their needs increase," says John
Hennessy, director of video and broadcast marketing for Ampex.

"Our recent announcements with Tektronix and HP to provide broadcast facilities with the latest in
automated digital archival and retrieval, support our leadership position and validate the performance and
reliability of our DST family," Hennessy continues.
