You should never sell covered calls on anything. You can't even succeed at that when you're on the floor, unless the market forces you to do so. Then you have to build up the other side to remain delta neutral. Might as well get a day job. You don't walk into capital markets for their casino potential, because you will eventually walk out with empty pockets. If you're bullish on gold stocks, buy them and hold. You don't expect a major move but if it occurs you can consider yourself lucky. No point in throwing away your good fortune on cleverness. Selling calls defeats the point of taking a long position in the first place. When you want to buy, buy, don't hedge.
