Mr. Ken Wawrew reports
The company, under its trade name IPS Automation, has received orders totalling
in excess of $4-million from LG Electronics. The giant Korean-based display
manufacturer placed orders that include 12 ADI 8200-ITC display inspection and
alignment systems for factories in Cumi, Korea, as well as upgrades to existing
systems previously installed in Wales, United Kingdom.
LG Electronics is one of the world's largest manufacturers of computer monitor
tubes and has recently introduced their new Flatron, a completely flat monitor
tube. The company used IPS systems in its factories in Europe and Korea and will
soon be installing an IPS production line for its new 19-inch flat computer monitor
tube.
The recovery in Asia along with the better-than-expected 17 to 19 per cent
growth in worldwide shipments of personal computers in the first quarter has
fueled the demand for monitor tubes. With orders of over $8.3-million already in
place, the company forecasts a record first quarter at IPS Canadian operations.
