on-topic: NTAP is noticeably absent from the slate of companies presenting at the H&Q tech conference next week. Anyone know why?

off-topic:

Thanks for the @Home tip. They seem a bit too second-tier for me (especially the Xcite alliance). And I really don't think access wiring is where the profits lie -- I think that as IP connectivity becomes ubiquitous and somewhat of a commodity, the AOL land is where profits lie. In the case of ubiquitous commodity technology (as net access will be in the future), it seems wiser to invest in services enabled by the technology rather than the technology itself. And AOL is a marketing/revenue machine, not an ISP. But that's just my gut feeling.

Hey ever notice that NTAP shares an office park with Lucent? Wonder what those lunch discussions are like? :-) (whoops just saw that you're not in Silly Valley so you may not have seen their offices)

I agree with you downsouth. I stay away from the crazy threads as well. Unfortunately, it seems like they all have become crazy. That is, except for this one. There isn't much posted but what we lack in quantity we sure than make up for in quality. You are one of the finest contributors here and should be thanked for the info you post.

As far as NTAP goes, I couldn't help but buy some more when we dipped below 50. I'm anticipating the EMC report will give us a lift and hopefully the rest of the NASDAQ, although it seems to me that the year 2000 fears (I hate saying Y2K)are starting to grip the high tech sector. What impact this will have on NTAP is unknown but talk to me in 5 years when I will look back at this time and be thankful I bought more today.

Opinions please on the following thought. One of the things I like about this company is the SUPREME CONFIDENCE management has but it is also one of the things I fear a little. Hopefully they won't become overconfident and make mistakes because of this arrogance/confidence.
Does this scare anybody else?
