I agree with your assumption on the press. Let's see. One set of managers who messed up...oh, I guess all the CEO's of all the tech companies are idiots, ok...let's all sell it off now. Great reasoning. CPQ just got fat and happy leading the market for so long. The people there thought that they owned the market (kinda like DEC did in the 80's). the market treated them with the correct reaction, although too late and not severe enough.
