Hi Thomas,

Thanks for the comments about Faulk. I didn't think about the contract issue and how that might have motivated him. I may have also said that the Colts' rb from Miami was an unknown but apparently he was a strong prospect.

I remember that the Panthers beat the Niners... and I think I know how: In the expansion draft they went for good veterans with only 2-3 years of playing time left, thus they had a quick contender. After their brief period of contention, all of those expansion-draft players retired and they're just now rebuilding. I'm just asking, assuming that the Panthers are as committed to winning as everyone used to say they were... isn't it just a matter of time before they rise again to contend for the NFC West?

On the issue of SF's weak schedules, one thing you fail to mention is that, playing in a weak division you have less stress, injury, and fatigue. I would think that a team winning a weak division would be better-rested than a team from a strong one, and it would help the rested team in the playoffs to have this advantage. That was all I was trying to say.

FWIW
