<<excellent earning>>? VLSI closed about $l8.00 a share. Without the buyout offer from Phillips it would be at $10-ll per share, where it was before the deal was announced. $.05 is no big deal, even if it was better than expectations. Unless LSI beats the estimate big time it will probably close down from the open. Look at SUNW, KLAC, NVLS, that have reported solid earnings and are now trading well off the the high of the reporting date. It could happen that LSI reports 10 to l5 cents per share and investors will still dump the stock out of concern about the relationship between earnings per share and the current stock price.

I hope this does not happen, but with the nervousness in the market today this senario is possible.

Good Luck tomorrow
