LUCENT LAUNCHES WIRELESS BROADBAND PRODUCT FAMILY B: LUCENT LAUNCHES WIRELESS BROADBAND PRODUCT FAMILY APR 19, 1999, M2 Communications - Lucent Technologies has introduced the OnDemand family of wireless broadband products, a system that uses radio microwave transmissions to deliver high-speed Internet and multimedia services of up to 45Mb/s to customers. With the system, service providers can deploy data services quickly and according to demand, avoiding the fixed costs and installation costs associated with leased lines or fibre optic cable. The OnDemand family incorporates the company's portfolio of data networking, optical networking, switching and access products as well as an integrated point-to-multipoint wireless system from Netro Corp. Lucent has made available OnDemand systems for operators using 26GHz and 10 GHz spectrum bands. Systems for 38GHz and 28GHz bands will be available later in the year.
