what is the implication of a continued selloff with respect to the large % of margin investors in techstocks...could there be more forced selling to cover margin, and how severe (or not)do you expect this to be?

<<< Sold all off my RNWK, EMC, more DELL at the open, and Half LU and some QCOM made a nice day trade on that one, sold all of those at profit. HOLD, AOL, ATHM, QCOM, QWST that I bought last week, CSCO, LU, DELL, AWRE, and RMBS.>>>
We run very close on investments. If its any consolation
I sold EMC, AOL,ONEM,QCOM, YHOO stock
Sold Aol calls, Athm calls, Awre calls
Kept a few things Qcom calls, cmgi leap( still up), msft and intc leaps and kept all Dell and Dell calls.
Made some on those stocks, but perhaps even on the calls or maybe a loss. Cleared up the margin on two of three accounts and very happy to get rid of it, despite the known fact that now with the market down is the best time to carry margin and be buying stock.
But I guess I am not the type to risk it.
I have been very worried for weeks, with the Dow up so high and
Dell down we have been on shaky ground.
Regards
Sig
