RRICH 4: Certainly good news...should put us somewhere in the mid 40's..will have to message my data to get a proper perspective. At this point...the mkt is returning to "value investment theory". The "gamblers" (internuts) will have no choice but to take what remaining profits they have and put these funds into "value". We knew the day would be coming for the correction in the internets...expect to see more downside in this area this week. Appears that the "honeymoon" is over for the internuts...reality has returned to the mkt...at some point these companies have to post a "profit"...at these high P/E's it is hard to justify their price....tulips anyone??? The major question here is....how many households have placed their spouses funds in the internets and what effect it will have upon them? It wasn't too long ago that the Real Estate Market "crashed" and quite a few "gamblers" lost everything and are living in "trailers". This may affect the overall market in other areas also but I believe the technology area will "weather" it much easier than others. It is back to performance backed up by EARNINGS...EARNINGS...EARNINGS and sound business strategy! So much for those who choose to ignor EPS and other ratios in evaluating equities!

Needham expectations could be high. This lofty forecast could cause trouble in the future like this past drop. (ie... .if coms doesn't meet expectations, it will drop like a rock...etc... again etc...)..

My opinion, I would like somewhat a lower expectation as a result at least meet expectations or exceed them when reporting comes.
(Holding a "ace" in the hole could be a winner in several cases and not a bad idea).

My theory is ---- someone at 3COM is in a crisis management stage and/or mode and is trying to save a further drop in stock price. ( As we know, it is too late). This 3COM executive has resorted to Needham for help. Needham is listening and probably the only one presently. Now, this strategy is going to back fire and cause this Needham analyst to report an over estimation. Of course, Needham's report will be a very strong buy recommendation thus is compounded by this overzealeous 3COM executive. In short, I just wondering if Eric B.is this 3com executive getting someone to listen and trying to save his job.

Honestly, I believe Eric B. is doing a heck of a job under the conditions, and has not lost focus to turn the company. He has done some very stupid mistakes as we all do. Nonetheless, at one point, I did not like him either however I have change my opinion of him due to the restructuring and refocusing on growth areas.

In any case, I hold a position in 3COM. (long).... I see extreme value in the 3COM.
