Sun Microsys, RealNetworks To Develop Web-Broadcast Tech Dow Jones Newswires LAS VEGAS -- Sun Microsystems Inc. (SUNW) and RealNetworks Inc. (RNWK) will continue to co-develop technology that will allow broadcasters to deliver traditional broadcast content over the Internet. In a press release Monday, Sun Microsystems said the companies are working to develop transcode capability for MPEG-2 files to RealAudio G2 and RealVideo G2. Sun StorEdge Media Central software, which provides digital media management and distribution, is key to the technology, Sun Microsystems said. Sun Microsystems provides intranet and Internet hardware and software. RealNetworks develops software that allows users to send and receive broadcasts over the Internet.
