I agree. Look for a 38% to 50% retracement of the recent correction.
Trading rally only, unless they announce something spectacular like a rights offering or a stock split.

As for ABX or any of the golds - Stick a fork in them. They've gone nowhere but down for three years and I don't see any reason why 1999 should be any different. For reasons too numerous to mention here, Gold in no longer the investment we all came to know and love.

<OT> Follow up, Borders Group BGP reported an expected loss, and recently hired CEO out. Was stopped out. Cheap, but cheap without momentum, is worth nothing to me. Dead money unless a buyout appears. No fun taking a loss, but holding and hoping is a worse alternative. To many other good stocks. Thankfully, nice day for SFE Mike

The pre-Mon. post speculated that a trading range scenario could develop with "vicious corrections and stunning rallies." Monday, turned out to be the former, Tue. and today, the later]. An aspect that continues to amaze is the speed of each. Will stick with trading range scenario previously outlined. Post-Mon. analysis suggested support $60-$62 based on two technical considerations. Low was reached late Mon., at $62 5/8 and follow through was immediate from the opening bell Tue. Twice this year, CMGI and SFE have pulled back to their 50 day moving average and they have not only held, but have provided a spring-board for immediate and sharp rallies. -OT- Knight-Trimark NITE reported q. engs. of $.67 sh. vs. $.20 yr. ago and vs. $.39 est. Revs. almost tripled from $63.5M to $182M. This co. processes trades for discount brokers and provides market making services. They processed 15% of all online trades vs. 10% 1 yr. ago. NITE partially owned by other discount brokers. Even if I-net stocks go into a trading range, their will be volatility and increased trading. There is no question in my mind, that new internet trading accounts will continue to be opened at a torrid pace. Only recently became acquainted with this co. and took an initial position. Very interesting, and SW Securities SWS $46 5/8 [mydiscountbroker.com] owns 1.7M. sh. of NITE. SW is more than mydiscount, and appears very interesting in its own right. Do DD if interested. That 1.7M sh. of NITE that SWS owns is worth almost $20 alone. SWS even pays a dividend of all things, and is expected to report stellar earnings tomorrow [not sure if before or after close]. SWS was named as one of 200 best small co.s in America- Forbes Oct. 28, '98. If any of you have further info. [positive or negative] on either of these, a message either private or public would be appreciated. Thanks to all for being indulgent in more than a few OTs on my part lately. [disclosure, now out of ABX, nothing negative [chart and fundamentals as outlined still look fine, just decided it was not best use of capital with some new ideas that seemed more compelling.] Mike
