As I said, I really don't remember, but you may be right on the 25%, it sounds familiar. The most liberal brokerage I know of is the one you and I use, and the floor is 30%. Then you have to crank equity back to 50% to keep the position, (according to internal rules), so it can be rather vicious. I know the brokerage rules are tighter than the Fed's. I nearly lost my nutz on a short when IOMG went against me on the final spike and they threatened to close me out. I was able to delay them and the next day it went my way to clear sailing. Down a 100k one day and up 25k a few later. I quit using margin on supposedly quick shorts after that experience. -g-
