Joe you probably mean't research. On the positive side Iv'e met some very sharp and very honest folks on SI and use it as a source of ideas (ie viewpoints other than mine). I also find following certian threads on looser stocks keeps my mind sharp.
SI is very helpfull, however what you act on and how you suppliment (reading filings, independant research and analsyts reports) information from SI determines how sucessful you will be.

There is a renewed P&D going on now with HOPR.
This company had a very active SI thread going and then they
closed their doors. Some new P&D artists are working this dead horse.
They are reprinting outdated facts and lies about the company.
It's sad to see a new crop of people getting Sucked into this hype.
