Alan,

I've got to agree with you wholeheartedly. I've got Window On Wallstreet's Daytrader and the only thing I use it for is charting. Having all sorts of alarms popping up all the time is distracting, and the program's ability to test various "systems" hasn't helped me one bit to understand what the market is likely to do tomorrow. For that I read books on TA and even then it's the day to day experience that clarifies what the books are teaching. I've got a long way to go before I can read a chart like a book, but as for buying any more software, I'm done with that. Actually, doing charts by hand has its attractions, especially Point and Figure since it's easy and gives definite signals. A program will certainly make prettier charts, but I've found that it tends to isolate me from the market just a little bit.

Regards,

Paul Kaz

TradarAlan, thanks for the kind comments. The advice you gave was sound oh wise one :)

Luckily the wife has been extremely patient with me spending so much time online and reading.

Thanks again for the advice, I hope to contribute something soon rather than just questions but you'll have to be patient with me for a while :)

Joe
