Hiya Mike!!!...nice to know you're still around! (And you're saying the same, for sure! :-))) As with Carl -- my apologies that traveling has kept me out of circulation for a while.
Darned if i can figure the winners in the last mile... have had my fun with telecom -- QWST, QCOM, ATI...and the disappointments. Sold my PAIR before DSL started a new popularity run over the T/TCI broadband threat. Speed-wise, it sounds like ADSL is going to be beating the ACTUAL speeds that cable will offer for the near-term, and there is no competition from your neighbor for the pipe with DSL. Now, if anybody except the Bells were running DSL, we would all have jacked our speeds up by a factor of 30 at a price of $40 long ago. And we wouldn't be discussing "DSL lite" at $60 either... sigh! We limp along, I guess. You still don't have me convinced on LOR/Globalstar, but am prepared to nibble--- I do like the related ORB, and nearly jumped on board this past week. I'll probably be staring wistfully at the LOR ascent long after I should have taken your advice :-) How about NXTL in the wireless gang?...Not that I think the handicaps of an open air shot for thelast mile have been overcome -- but if you like Winstar and Teligent, perhaps a few words on Nextel's prospects?
Kudos one more time on your early call on QCOM -- and your continued pounding the table subsequently.... my heirs will likely thank you sincerely!! So I guess I better forget about the political problems and see what LOR is offering... thanks for the thoughts, Mike!
(And I'll try not to let nearly a month go by between replies next time!)
Cheers!! TSO
