What do u all think about Chris Byron's article on PC industry's problem:

msnbc.com

I think he's got a valid point. The price war is going to get even more brutal as time goes on. People are comparing PC to Color TV and says that in a year, there will be no money to be made in this industry. I think they got a great point. If all you need the PC for are surfing internet, managing your personal finance, taxes, prepare your resume... Then all you need is a $300 PC and in addition, purchase the Microsoft Office. So who makes the money? Not the box maker, not the ISP, but Microsoft. If you want to do more fancy stuff, say you want video conferencing or other stuff, you buy a digital cam and some software, call the phone company to install you a ISDN/T1/DSL line. Who's going to make money? Your phone company and CISCO. Soon, your car, your cell phone, your toaster will be on the internet, soon, you won't need to use a map, all you need is walk into your car and the car will ask you "Where do you want to go today?". Then your car will use information gather from the internet to guide you to your destination using the fastest, least traffic congested way. Who makes money? The server maker in this server concentric world. And that's Microsoft, Sun, EMC because they provide the backbone to this world.

There is just no place for the boxmaker any more. How well can DELL adapt to this change will undermine how well the stock does in the future. I am not optimistic. I will not buy at this level, I think DELL still got a way DOWN to go. Possibilly in the low 20's. I think I am selling tomorrow. I am moving my money to MSFT, SUNW, CSCO, EMC. Good luck guys.

Oh yes,
Don't we know it.

Lets see, Elaine Garzerelli (sp?) was right once or twice about three to five years ago. But after that, she is mostly forgotten.

I think the fund she "managed" went south, and/or she was asked to leave. Can't remember the name.

Dan Niles? Tom Kurlack, Elaine?
Flashes in the pan. easily lost and forgotten
