i view the market values of internet stocks as ocean waves. over the past several days the wave is crushing down (i.e. a to be expected short term correction). after the speculation of some of us has run its course a new wave will come and carry the stocks of good business model/excution internet companies up to higher valuations. as a side note,it is interesting that when the market corrects in the internet section this discussion tread gets fairly quiet. most of you reading this must be depressed. hang in there, if you sell now while others are trying to, you will go down with the ship. ride the waves.

think of a boiling pot of soup, parts are bubbling over and parts are not

saying the entire internet sector was a "bubble" is like saying that pot of soup is one big bubble

bubbles appear here and there in specific sectors or companies and the corrections just take those bubbles out

if like today and part of last week the entire sector gets caught in the splash then i consider it an over-reaction to some froth here and there

in an over-reaction i look at market leaders first to see if they show value potential
then i look at second-tier stocks just under the top 30 in terms of overall web users (mediametrix.com data)

i think the correction may not be finished yet but that it may provide a buyer's round soon, especialy in market leaders off 30% or more from their highs
