PB and Kash,

IMO (no one asked for it by here it is anyway) fab capacity is being converted to K6 III as we speak.

Conveting capacity from K62 to K63 is by far more complicated than yields and ASP. OEM's have to stream line their operations with their suppliers and retailers (this is the issue that sanders yelled at Niles for :-). There is no way market can absorb 3.5 million at $150 each. AMD's market is low end business and retail. K6-III should allow them to move up but it can only be done so fast.

I am sure that there are currently plans by OEM's (other than Compaq) to use K6-III's. I am also sure that AMD is also planning to ramp K6-III in time to meet those plans.

AMD does not have the luxury of Intel, they can introduce a new CPU (ie PIII) and have all the OEM's commit to it before its release.
