next powerful group up = Affiliate Networks Hi Steve, I was wondering if you share my view that the Affiliate Networks will have an incredibly powerful position in the New Networked Economy?(I apologize if you have already addressed this topic on this thread). I am nearing completion of my own e-commerce site and my observation is that the portals like Yahoo are losing some of their storefront merchants to the 'Affiliate Networks.' And I'm not talking about squatty merchants...we're talking about some very respectable names who are leaving Yahoo in favor of Affiliate Networks. While Yahoo is surely an amazing organization, I question whether they fully grasp the new Affiliate distribution model which essentially matches web sites with merchants. IMO, affiliate programs are the DNA of this e-tailing revolution. The bottom line is about producing a highly targeted hot lead and getting the best possible conversion rate. IMO, affiliate programs will dramatically supercharge this economy because they facilitate merchants in selling their products to the most highly targeted audiences possible...and all in a low risk fashion(commissions only rewarded for sales). The 'S' in SGA is going to get wrung out, big time. Likewise, Affiliate Networks will dramatically reduce the % SGA (over time) on the balance sheet of America. And as you know, *THAT* is the cornerstone of economic productivity...and the thing that drives markets wild. Thus, I anxiously await the IPO's of the BeFree's, Linkshares, and Cj's of the world. IMO, these group of stocks will have infinite upside potential as they get a % of the entire e-tail channel. Do you expect any of these companies to come public soon? Would love to hear your thoughts. :-) Leeza Rodriguez
