The Chinese have a vested interest in opposing any sort of intervention based upon human rights. Note the wording of that press release statement by him: human rights cant be held higher than national sovereignty. Not only does China have to worry about its treatment of protesters and dissidents, it also has to worry about Tibet and its slave labor camps. Indeed he does have to worry about something spreading to his own country, namely, holding a regime responsible for its human rights record.
