Stock trading up a bit on the open at $33 1/4-$33 3/8 ...It appears it is at the high end of the Ask price. Watch volume to see if new buying appears.

This raises two possibilities: Since LSI had already stated that they had record revenues for the first two months, we are left wondering if the March actually saw declining sales relative to December' 98. Or is it not also possible that 2Q will be front end loaded from 1Q given the obvious hype that LSI is trying to generate. I would hope (and to some extent believe) that it is the latter, because further quarters of 2.5% revenue growth in a surging market will be nothing to write home about, and Wilf has already been cautioned about waxing too enthusiastically about future prospects. Indeed, LSI has failed to live up to Smith Barney's revenue projections for the just completed quarter. Those projections were made just two weeks ago.

Patrick-I just listened to the call and I'm not certain that it's accurate to say that Wilf ever guided someone to 4% for Q1. He probably said that they would beat the expectation (eps) and the analyst filled in the blanks to get there. IMO 2.6% over Christmas is strong with capacity constraints at Gresham. Wilf stated that Gresham will reach breakeven 1Q ahead of plan. (sounds strong) I liked what I heard.

Best regards,

Mike
