During all the visits to the camps, I am yet to see any laptops at all, nor any sign of any database program that you discuss. During today's visit there were the same lines of refugees, and when some of them saw the cellular phone in my pocket they came running up to ask me to make phone calls. Many of them have relatives in the Albanian community in Skopje or the surrounding towns, but the Macedonian authorities are making it impossible for them to get in touch. Today, the Macedonian police checkpoints were a significant distance from the camp, and if we did not have our press credentials and U.S. passports, the vehicle we were in would not have been allowed any further. Also, the security around the camp itself has been tightened up since our last visit. What has not changed is the reprehensible conditions. One little bright spot at the camp, a volleyball court that had been put up and always had hundred of young people around has been taken down.

I am sitting here at TV-ERA with a lady named Nerxhivan who does the news. She is 23, attends graduate school in the morning, and works all afternoon and evening at the TV station. She could definitely give some of the U.S. anchorwomen a run with her talent.

All the best,
Fane
