Probably true, I've also heard Mark Hanes declare that he owns a particular stock before interviewing one of its officers. Seems as if CNBC doesn't have a firm policy, if any, in this area.

FWIW,
Ian.

I believe I have heard Kernan and others on CNBC state that they do not hold equity positions due to
conflict of interest issues...

Well John.....IBM certainly did NOT report bad/mediocre earnings....in fact, they are darn good, with the kicker that they did very well in the hardware (PCs)..

I am not listening to the CC, so I have no idea what their forward view is....or Y2K...

It will be interesting to see what happens to Dell tomorrow...Dell has gotten hammered in the past few weeks when competitors (or anyone having anything to do with PCs) have not done well this quarter (even though, one distinct possibility was that they were not doing well because Dell was eating their lunch...)...So, in a counter-intuitive kind of way....Dell should do well tomorrow (if this same logic holds), since IBM PC sales have gone well...

Now, if Dell doesnt see some pop.....The logic of the past couple week's selloff will have escaped me.........Bears (spin) will say that this now means that the odds of Dell taking over IBM's PC biz has gone down, etc., therefore, Dell price should fall.....

Where did you get your info (on IBMs earnings) this time, John <g>
(Got to get you back for getting out of Compaq on time...)
