Sam;

Yeah, SEG is doing great but the stock isn't. Like I've said so many times before, earnings, prospects etc. don't mean shit to this specialist. Yesterday's volume reversal is the big news via SEG. The whole market has gone short. Usually these Bear Raids commence anywhere from 2 days-2 weeks after a volume reversal like yesterday's. He may use the Bear Raid to cover for his own operations. It makes everything look like its in context. Now I can guess why he has been acting out of character for the last month. Look for 23 5/8-24 soon. After that we'll see.

About the U4 drive. I assume its an updated IDE drive. (correct me if I am wrong) SEG is relying on it to keep a presence in the low end of the market but also I think this goes back to what I've said before and that is that the the DD industry is expanding beyond the PC market into other product apps. That is very encouraging. Eventually, it may be a bigger part of the DD market than PCs. Wouldn't that be nice? Obviously, the trip that the SEG execs. took to Japan a few months ago was to make this deal. We wondered about that when they went there. I mentioned then that big Japanese companies are involved in all kinds of unrelated enterprises. They will make a deal with the devil if it suits their purpose. In Japan competitors both compete and cooperate. When I visited a Canon lens plant they were manufacturing certain Nikon professional, telephoto lenses, as well as, their own. Nikon had the glass but not the technology at that time.

A thing that's really irksome about Seagate is that, unlike the others, who only count the top 10 strategic OEMs, Seagate counts every yahoo who quals their drives. Gobi??? Pionex??? Really scraping the bottom of the barrel there.
