I'm in a stock just like gnet but fast forward 3 mos or so... doubleclick. It was once a bit of a laggard and has inched its way into the top tier, or the upper second tier. (I believe they always had more analyst coverage however - but no Allen investment so maybe they cancel each other out? - lol)

I do believe that gnet has some core strengths and they should focus on them, however. Imo SI is their biggest asset as the premiere discussion forum on the web. They should do everthing to expand and promote SI into other forums etc. They really have no competition there - its gnet's market to lose. Some people think metacrawler is #1 so theres another thing. (I'm not up on se's) I am of the opinion that adding "me-too" sites such as auctions really don't bring much to the party, however.

I don't know what they plan to initiate with Allen either. Hopefully some plans will emerge on that front but we don't know right now, I don't think its a given really that gnet will become to Allen's cable network what excite is to @home.

On analysts, Steve Harmon imo is better than other internet analysts so its not like nobody covers gnet but no one from the big houses.

From the looks of things, I get the feeling

all the potential good news has just been factored out of the stock since its high of 195. I've been watching the sales pretty actively for the last week and I think we are in the process of establishing a strong support level at the 140 mark. This likely represents an acceptable capitalization of GNET at this very moment in time.

So, that tells me that if the earning are good tomorrow we will move up, but we will not go anywhere if the earning are acceptable. If the earnings are poor, then the obvious move is down. I don't believe anyone expects anything but good.

Unlike the common scenario where all the good news is already in the price just prior to earnings release, leaving nowhere to go but down, this is starting to look like the less frequent scenario where the move will be up after earnings. The main reason for my analysis is that I think we are oversold at this point. As WST always writes; just my views :-)
