$10 for 5000 shares at Datek, so $20 total. I also have accounts at DLJ and Schwab also. DLJ is best for shorting stocks. Schwab has the best customer service but is by far the most expensive ($30 for 1000 shares). Service at DLJ blows major chunks -- when using DLJ, just realize that if you are on your own. Service at Datek is slightly better than DLJ (how can it be worse?). Datek's express server is cool but many volatile stocks are non-marginable and thus non-shortable.
