tippet: my goal is to double my money every year. needless to say, i have been fortunate enough to greatly exceed my goal recently. So as long as ebay was above 30 by 9/99, i would feel that i was meeting my goal and would probably want to ride out the price swings. Of course, if it ever did begin to approach 30, I would have to look at the fundamental reasons it was doing so. At this point, the only possible such fundamental reason i see as remotely possible would be some sort of world crisis such as the Asian Crisis of 1998 that led to the meltdown from July to October 1998. I was 65% cash by October 1998, so something like that would probably force me to take profits again.

btw, i did choose to sell half my ebay when amzn announced its entry into auctions. i am beginning to regret that decision, although the jury is still out. bottom line: i am now trying to sell only for fundamental, not technical reasons.
