Isn't that due to the holders of the bought out company selling off because they didn't buy the buyer and are either skeptical or not interested? Then when the sellings done, the buyers stock jumps even higher than it was and I've even seen double and more after the initial sell off.

Just my observation but more input from you is welcome.
