Beats me, but it looks like Talk N' Play is headed straight to OEM shovelware hell, unless they do something. I can only say that either the marketing has been terrible (which it has - but it probably has to do with the lack of funds) or the market just does not have the interest for this type of product yet.

Well, I have already seen something interesting, besides the sudden appearance of a lot of inventory at CompUSA at the end of the quarter (to be fair it was from MSFT too). The Rage 3D is $9.95 no rebate - this got good reviews as well- I almost picked it up for that price.
And the Sidewinder was sitting next to it for $21.95. See a margin problem? MSFT is steady and relentless...

Regarding Logitech, not only is it inflated in comparison, Logitech also has better brand name recognition among the general public, as does of course, MSFT. A comparison I ran on a analysis site gave it a 243% overprice compared to it's industry (can't remember where I did this unfortunately). I do have a Hold rating from Wedbush(sp?) dated 4/16 - although I don't hold much weight in analysts anyway, so they could be wrong.

On still another note, I have spotted the first(?) returns. Fry's in Fremont has had 20 or so copies of Talk N' Play sitting until last week (the optimist would say they were being incredibly well re-stocked). Two days ago all but 5 disappeared overnight to be replaced by copies of Creatures 2. This is a fairly large store, and they still have Fragmaster. One problem I noted with Talk N' Play from a retail level is that there really isn't a good place to put it - and Thrustmaster can't afford the endcap approach that MSFT and others can to make unique products stand out.

On the bright side, returns won't happen from the other stores I frequent (Babbages, CompUSA, etc.) because they still don't have it.
I guess the Silicon and Tri Valley area isn't a good place for new technology....
