Hi Charlie.......I think Altern8 is concerned that if he needed his $$$ or assets in an emergency situation & he doesn't have access to his online bank then he would be in a jam without a local USAB branch "physically" nearby...

Have a nice night all

Hi Charlie,

Many differences to discuss, but I'm in a rush to leave now - I'll try to share some notes on the differences tomorrow morning.

One of the most compelling arguments is the revenue growth and earnings going forward. The growth of this particular bank will dwarf that of any local bank w/ a ho-hum website, thanks to USAB's unique marketing approach.

I'll get back to you tomorrow, hopefully others will share info tonight.

off to ride,
-VeloSpeed

Charles ..

Most banks will be offering "on-line banking"
as a convenience or customer service ..

A few "banks" will use the reach of the internet
to become "branchless" financial powerhouses using
the internet as a way to "grow assets" by offering
higher rates to savers/depositors and other financial services
such as loan processing, on-line trading, lease financing
etc.

It's the NTBK/TBFC/USAB model vs the old-line "brick
and mortar" boys .. to compete on rates and services
the old line banks would have to 1) kill their current
customer base or 2) take a big hit to earnings .. is
your local bank suddenly going to offer "free checking"
and "free e-billing" or higher CD rates to get you as
a customer and not offer the same deal to existing
depositors ????

NTBK/TBFC/USAB will only be worthwhile investments
in the long run based upon their ability to grow
their assets .. USAB has 185 million in assets now
with a MCAP of 27.5 million @ 12 1/2 .. I'm anticipating
a significant ramp-up in their "asset growth rate" as
their i-net initiatives for "banking" and "brokerage"
take root .. the stock price will follow ..

Charlie one difference between what your bank offers (via web) and USAB and money center banks (BA, etc.) may be their market reach. the MCBs target everyone everywhere using the web as one means. USAB is licensed in all 50 states plus they are taking deposits and offering CDs to anyone. perhaps your bank is only intending to serve in state customers even if they offer the same range of product as does USAB and the others.
OT - anyone know the time of the cc tomorrow? i hope a confidence inducing and otherwise successful cc will set off the stock again. the AM might be a good chance to buy at 12 before the cc. good trading to all...
