My question is how sustainable are investment incomes of this type, if they are related to equities in any way...particularly inflated equities such as Internet stocks, for example. I'm especially concerned about sustainability through Y2K. There could be dislocations in the financial markets...the Federal Reserve already anticipates cash withdrawls from banks. What about the stock market and Internet stocks...won't riskier assets be liquidated well before much safer bank accounts? This, in turn, will affect anyone who depends heavily on investment income, as is apparently increasingly the case with Microsoft.

we already knew that they had an extra $400 million in investment income to offset the income they had to defer.
