Bill-- I am less contemptuous of their ignorance, since it is not their job to be terribly well informed, but to decide who best reflects their general disposition. That is why I wonder at the complaints about "issueless" campaigns, as if people are supposed to live like policy wonks, rather than do their own jobs and take care of their families. I think that those campaigns that emphasize broad themes are not selling- out at all, but making the right sort of appeal to the voters...
