I had dinner not too long ago with an associate who works as a South African equity analyst for a major global bank. His favorite stock pick was De Beers as he found the stock trading on a very low valuation, but more importantly he finds diamonds to be a "millenium play." He said that De Beers is likely to launch an advertising campaign promoting diamonds in the year 2000. His belief is that men will want to give their wives something extraordinary for their "millenium anniversary," the "millenium Valentines Day," etc. Stocks like GDRS should therefore be great plays!!!!
