Paul,

There you go again with this territory-based mindset... I think that today --a few ''hours'' off the XXIst century-- military security's no longer a matter of geography.
Remember how easy it was for Saddam to loose a couple of Scud missiles over Israel (it took an average 20 Patriot missiles to intercept any one of them!).
Hopefully, there are Jews in Israel --like Lea Rabin, late Gen. Moshe Dayan's daughter,...-- who are in favor of an independent Palestinian State.
Hence, I think it's highly counterproductive to have Jews from NY City, Paris, London, Zurich, you name it! interfering in Israeli politics: its' all too easy and irresponsible for a New York diamond broker to dismiss those f****** Arabs from his/her Central Park penthouse. It's in the highest interest of young Israelis to reconcile with their fellow Palestinians. The problem is that Israel was born out of the outrageous European genocide. Yet, Americans should not mistake Arabs's hostility toward Zionism for Gentiles's antisemitism. Both Arabs and Jews are Semitic people, after all!
Notwithstanding, the worst outcome of the Israeli/Arab conflict is that a growing racist, bigot, far-rightist party has made it into the Knesset and in the Israeli government: those Israelis who support Shas have betrayed their own people who died in Nazi concentration camps 60 years ago.

Greetings from Brussels,

Gustave.
