re: your earlier post about Mac OS X server being based on Unix:

MacOS X server is based on Rhapsody, Apple's OS that it acquired from Next Inc., which itself was built on the Mach kernel. Not exactly what I would call standard Unix. Try loading OS X on a Sun box.

Also, AAPL isn't going to make much money from the sales of QT4 streaming -- AAPL has and always will see itself as a hardware maker. You really think they'll put much effort into making QT4 stream well from a Solaris machine? or NT? Of course not -- they're interested in selling G4 machines. Which means that QT will be optimized for Apple's architecture, which in turn means that QT will still be mainly used for desktop video applications.

I don't see anything in Apple's announcements that are particularly earth-shaking or that have the potential to rearrange the competitive landscape vis-a-vis RNWK.
