Dan,

Re: "Have patience kash, your foot is irrevocably in your mouth already ..."

Dan, No need to post such "mean spirited" replies ... BTW Dan, NSM clearly
has for the past year had their "finger" in their "a$$". <ggg>

Make It So,

Dan,

Re: "The trouble with this is obvious. The 10/98 news release clearly says 4th Q '99 release expected for 600-800mhz Jalapeno. Your post clearly seems based in some sort of reality you've invented out of whole cloth."

I really don't wish to argue with you about whose foot is stuck where.

However you have placed quite a bit of faith on that october 98 article.

FYI, NSM's CEO about 6 months alluded to the fact that NSM was going to jump the competition and go to 0.18 micron directly.

In addition much was made of the Mxi and the Jedi and the PCOAC.

Unfortunately the company to date has delivered nothing as far as new designs for a long time.

In addition the vaunted 0.18 micron process seems to even have problems yielding 400Mhz MII parts (ob by the way these are not really 400Mhz parts - just PRed to 400Mhz on integer stuff).

So while the competition is getting ready to bring up 600-800 Mhz processess this year NSM is suck in the slow lane.

In addition they simply lack the fab capacity and investment capital to move to the next generation 0.18/0.13/Cu process which is required in the high speed desktop space.

In fact several folks have speculated that the company is refocussing itself from trying to compete solely in the sub $1000 market and is giving up the ghost on the higher end desktop/workstation/server space as far as x86 CPU's go and into the settop/appliance space).

Oh and Kevin McDonough was "reassigned" earlier this year from being GM of the Cyrix group after their stellar performance of producing no new Cyrix architectures in last 2 years.

In fact the Cyrix crew have introduced not much creatively since Jerry got the boot.

So yes, NSM has great potential but if you are seriously expecting 600-800 Mhz Jalapeno's or Mxi's or Jedi's in a few months you are likely to be sadly dissapointed.

And I would recommend you do some research on Cyrix before you start attacking people with a press release that is 6-8 months old from a company that overpromises and under delivers to an extraordinary degree.

Regards,

Kash J.

When they say that they will ship in Q4, are they referring to fiscal Q4 or "gregorian" Q4.

Fiscal Q4 starts in May for NSM.
