I feel the urge to slay some bears tonight, but with the national tragedy unfolding in Colorado there is no need to sling mud here as well, but I will say that MSFT's balance sheet and income statement are used in virtually every accounting and finance textbook in most universities around the world as MODELS and their accounting DOES NOT come under fire for any not-so-honest reporting techniques(like AOL which has been in the spotlight before over this) These are real profits and as someone posted earlier they almost blush when they report it. One item that has not been mentioned is that with the trial ongoing maybe MSFT wants to downplay the prospects for coming quarters b/c at the last blow-out quarter the gov't lawyers attacked their earnings as "monopoly profits" just a little hunch...everyone is free to attack me for this :)
